Motivation in Mud

wpid-wp-1410443290284.jpeg I continue on my battle to create a healthier lifestyle for my family and myself. It’s an up hill climb for sure! My best friend continues to give me motivation and encouragement to better myself, which is always needed. But sometimes, I need it from other sources too.

This past weekend, my brother-in-law gave me renewed motivation. He completed his THIRD Tough Mudder race! Now this is not a race for the faint of heart. This race has brutal obstacles with everything from hills of dirt and cargo nets to crawling under electrified wire and sliding through fire! Needless to say, this isn’t a race I’m running to sign up for. But he did it and plans to do it again! I’m in awe.

wpid-wp-1410443140745.jpegI must also tell you, that while he is not an out-of-shape person, he is a very busy man. He works two jobs, and has two very active young ones. He is always on the go. I don’t know how he fits in time for training! Plus, he’s old! Haha, I tease him because of our 17 year age difference.

wpid-wp-1410443160587.jpegHe continues to inspire and motivate me to do better in life. He’s not a man of many words, but leads by great example. I’m beyond proud that my children will have this role model in their lives, and extremely proud to call him family!

After watching him complete this, my niece and I decided it was time for us to sign up for a 5k! We’re going to do a Turkey Trot run/walk in November. If this old man can run through fire, I can walk 3 miles!!

Happy Harvesting,

Leah
